City Attractions



Hotel Ruby Blue is located in the city center. From the hotel, you can take short walks in the town center, because you’re just a short walk everywhere. Everything is within reach. In Ostrava, today is so much to see. You will not have to use public transport or taxi. Stop by at the reception desk, we have prepared maps and we will advise you.The hotel is in the very heart of the entertainment Stodolní Street. But before jumping into the whirl of entertainment, visit one of the exhibitions in the Gallery of Fine Arts, which is just a few steps behind the hotel. Stroll down to the Ostrava main square  and to a picturesque Small Town Square. Then set off on foot to the Silesian Ostrava Castle through the Exhibition Black Meadow Centre and the footbridge over the River Ostravice. After fifteen minutes walk you are on the spot, amidst a beautiful park, a short distance from Ostrava ZOO. On the way back do not forget to visit MINIUNI world of miniatures.

The biggest attraction in Ostrava becomes the Lower Vítkovice – National Cultural Monument, where has moved in 2012 famous music festival Colours of Ostrava in 2012. The area is approximately fifteen minutes’ walk away. Make sure to visit The World of Technology, do not miss the multifunctional Concert Hall GONG. Be enchanted by the view from the new viewing tower with Cafe Bolt Tower, which is built on top of one of the blast furnaces.

Check out some of the thematic areas – such as Blast Furnace Area or Coal Area, which walks you through the territories of the former coal mine Hlubina with attractive visiting a mining tower. Learn all about not only in mining but also its transformation into coke and used in connection with the blast furnace. This route is also showing the newly renovated buildings in the area to serve as a cultural and social Quarter Hlubina. Bolt Tower and Hlubina in Lower Vitkovice from architect Josef Pleskot received the award for  the best construction of 2015 in the Czech Republic. You can also visit the Landek Park – the largest mining museum in the Czech Republic and go down into the mine underground. The museum is in Ostrava Petrkovice 5 km from the city center.

For shopping you must visit the Forum Nová Karolina Centre, you’ll find five minute walk away from hotel.

Next to a shopping center visit other construction of architect Josef Pleskot – Triple Halls Karolina, which consists of two renovated listed buildings. In times of his tenure, they were used for industrial purposes for Zofin foundry and Karolina coking plant. Today, standing before you in a new outfit “Switchboard” and “Covered Square – Double Hall“.

In short, in Ostrava, you certainly will not be bored. To visit interesting places in Ostrava, one day is definitely not enough.
